look-alike…

Look-Alike

so I was watching the Santa Claus for about the fifteenth time this year, and all of a sudden, I thought… Phillips, Craig, and Dean!  it turns out that Judge Reinhold (the stepdad and psychologist) reminds me of Randy Phillips (member of Phillips, Craig, and Dean)!  see what you think…

justification…

December 23, 2008

I fully support

all of the iPhone users/addicts, but this is my official justification for not getting one.  It all started in June 2007 when I was dead set on getting one, but I was so painfully bound by a Sprint contract.  Ever since then, I was set on buying one as soon as my contract ended, but I have now decided against it.

1. I check my email 20+ times a day; I have to draw a line before I can access my email 24/7.

2. There are a lot of other things on my Christmas list that will not require monthly payments.

3. My MacBook Pro goes with me wherever I go.  If I’m not on the internet, in most cases, it is just a power button away.

4. I’m a planner; if ever going somewhere new, then I’ve probably already researched the place and know exactly where I’m going.

5. I don’t play games on phones.

6. I own a Bible… several in fact.

7. The AT&T network is not existent at my house.

8. I have an ipod for all of my music… two in fact.

9. Texting on iPhones while driving is even more dangerous than on my current phone

10. I don’t even like talking on the phone, and therefore rarely do so anyway.

Please leave your comments telling me why I should get one…

batteries…

Interstate

you may have seen Interstate Batteries’ commercial on tv about God’s Love.  the commercial made me very curious so I had to check out the company.  Norm Miller, CEO, is an interesting guy, and the company’s corporate mission is definitely worth looking at.

shopping…

Jacket

well, today I went shopping.  it was the first time in a really long while by myself, excluding online shopping.  it was a pleasant experience even though I was trying not to think about all the finals I have this week.  I did learn that Nordic Track and Army (yes, the US Army) has a line of clothing in Sears… wow.  in all of the excitement of the retail stores, I found myself at the Salvation Army store… and that’s where I found this really sweet jacket! I had to pick up this special “Members Only” deal at only 10 bucks!

double negatives…

Double Negatives

so what does Bachman Turner Overdrive’s “Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet” and Kenny Chesney’s “Never Wanted Nothing More” have in common? I’m sure all of you can think back and remember learning about double negatives in school.  it’s using “two forms of negation in one clause” (Wikipedia).  that’s basically saying something like, “I’m not going to do that no more.”  ”Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet” and “Never Wanted Nothing More” are built on this. I’ve even found more songs that share this same property like Robert Randolph’s “Ain’t Nothing Wrong with That,” Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s recording of “Ain’t No Mountain High,” Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall,” and even Christina Aguilera’s “Ain’t No Other Man.”  trust me, I didn’t just happen to find “Ain’t No Other Man” in my iTunes library; I read that somewhere else, but it’s true!  there are plenty more of these kinds of songs; and “double negative” is even used as a band name… next time you want to write a song, think of you’re favorite double-negative phrase or sentence and start strumming a guitar.
