I was fortunate to see Quantum of Solace last night with Jo. I really enjoyed the film, and it’s definitely one that needs to be seen in a theatre.  It makes me want to do three things: speak in a British accent; speed in some other country in a car, boat, airplane, etc.; and never make eye contact again while talking with someone.

crosswalks…

 

I’ve noticed an unusual competition of pedestrians preparing to cross the street. people stand on street corners with their usual bleak faces while not making eye contact with the competition. Undoubtedly, the first person to step off the sidewalk sends a message to everyone else waiting to cross the street.  it could possibly prove that he or she is in more of a rush than anyone else; it could be proof that he or she knows the city better; or that his or her judgement is better than anyone else’s.  if the bold individual starts walking before the “walk” light appears, then that person gets bonus points and walks proudly across the street.  it’s a really interesting contest to watch… just smile the next time you see that person who makes it across the street first.
